HERMA is expanding its HERMAexquisite range of self-adhesive material for wine and spirits labels with three new products to be showcased at Labelexpo in Barcelona (Hall 3, Stand A46). HERMA is also presenting a new wine catalogue in which a wide range of finishing techniques can be experienced, both in look and feel.
Three high-grade paper qualities are used for the new self-adhesive materials. HERMAvelin natural white (grade 301) is a natural white, smooth, uncoated and wet-strength self-adhesive label paper. HERMAgloss 85 (grade 247) is a white self-adhesive label paper with a glossy coating on one side. Both qualities have FSC® Mix Credit certification. Another new addition to the range is HERMApaperwise natural (grade 705), an uncoated, natural-coloured label material made from agricultural waste - ideal for labelling and marketing organic products, for example.
Secure adhesion even in wet conditions
HERMAexquisite comprises a total of 23 different paper and film materials, many of which have a textured surface. They are predominantly equipped with the multi-layer adhesive 62W. It was specially developed for use on wine and spirits bottles and ensures reliable adhesion - even when chilled and wet. Wine cooler tests in the HERMA laboratory validate these properties.
"With the adhesive 62W, we offer a superior alternative to hot-melt in terms of process technology - without compromising on adhesion. This is because problems such as adhesive bleeding or tool soiling are significantly reduced - saving time and costs in the printing process," says Hendrik Kehl, product manager at HERMA. The adhesive is also certified by ISEGA for direct contact with food.
The new catalogue is aimed at label printers, designers, agencies and winemakers. It clearly presents the wide range of possible finishing techniques - including blind embossing, deep embossing, micro embossing, 3D relief varnish as well as prismatic and 3D blind embossing.
"The samples are a practical demonstration of the tactile and visual effects that can be achieved with HERMA materials," says Harald Wallner, director sales international at HERMA.
HERMA & Wausau Coated Products to expand cooperation throughout Europe
To offer even more choice and material alternatives in this area, HERMA’s new strategic partner Wausau Coated Products (WCP) from the USA will also be present on the HERMA stand during Labelexpo.
"WCP is a valued development partner for label printers and label users far beyond America, especially when it comes to self-adhesive materials for unusual speciality labels, such as for wine, spirits and beverages," explains Wallner.
The WCP range includes a variety of specialty materials that are very popular with British whisky and gin producers. To ensure short delivery times, market-related advice and service is currently provided by the English subsidiary HERMA UK, which operates its own cutting centre in Newbury.
"As HERMA and WCP are planning to expand their cooperation throughout Europe as their next step, we cordially invite all manufacturers of wine, beer and spirits labels to come and talk to us in person on our stand," emphasises Wallner. "Above all, the innovative and recycling-friendly special material solutions with high wet opacity and strength are always of great interest in this segment."
